Welcome

This is a blog about my bird ringing activities, inspired by many other existing ringing blogs that I very much enjoy reading, enjoy, comment, share.

Lesser Redpoll recovery

We were delighted to receive notification recently of a Lesser Redpoll that we caught and ringed as a first year bird at one of our sites last November.  The bird has been caught by another bird ringer live and well, and probably breeding, right at the tippy top of Scotland!

We have no also received news of a couple of birds that we controlled at the same site from another ringing group.  I've added the lines to the same map below.

Pink - Ringed as a first year bird on 29/10/2011 in Orfordness, Suffolk, controlled by us 29/10/2012.

Yellow - Ringed as a first year bird on 30/10/2011 at The Haven, Thorpeness, Suffolk, controlled by us 13/10/2012.

Blu - Ringed 24/11/201, Agden (see this post) - controlled 02/06/2012, Broubster, 579km.

  1. All these finches seem good for generating controls and recoveries Dave - apart from Bramblings.
